This is the support side of TH-VM.
This is normally a domain like support.your_domain.com because your primary (root) domain is usually where you want the customers to go. However, for our purpose, it doesn't really matter. So if you are pretending to be a customer, you should pretend to not be seeing this because it would only be used by your customer support folks.
The concept we're trying to impart is that you have a two instances of Joomla running, one for your VM shopping cart, the other for Taskhopper VM. Why two versions?
You do this to keep the users separate. The primary domain holds customers and all the orders. The other one is for your customer support staff to use. So in other words, customers would never see this side. (If I'm repeating mysself, that's because this is important ... and my attention span is impaired)
You could run VM and TH-VM together in one version of Joomla however we don't recommend it. At some point we may explain all the reasons but just for now, trust us. Keep the two sides separate. Don't cross the beams. We've done this lots, we know stuff.
How This Works
1. Your customer cheerfully places an order
2. Something changes (e.g., customer changes mind, shipped wrong item, customer's wife says "send it back" ...)
3. Customer calls or emails with request for whatever
4. Support staff logs into a site like this (the separate Joomla site) and opens a Taskhopper ticket, pulling data directly from the VM order table into the task record.
Result: Stuff gets done. People stay happy, even the wife
That's about all there is to it.
Try it! Log in as a demo user
You need to login as a demo user. As you know, Joomla only does one user at at time so we will make 5 demo accounts -- use one that's not already in use. The accounts are demo1 with password of the same. (Please look in the upper right corner before logging in) The five accounts are demo1, demo2... We'll add more if we ever get that many wanting to try this at the same time :) |
